Climate change has reached a crisis point. We can no longer shrug it off thinking individual efforts are enough. Every flood reminds us that we need to do more. While on Town Council, I have supported our Climate Action Plan and spending money on electric buses. On development projects, I make sure that preservation of existing tree buffers is codified in the Special Use Permit.
I am a strong advocate for preserving acres of greenspace and greenways. As we increase the density and intensity of development in town, having large swaths of forests and meadows becomes imperative for good physical and mental health. We need places where we can breathe in nature. We don’t need to pit community needs such as affordable housing against park space. With thoughtful planning, we can have both.
